Description: The Astronomy Club exists to encourage and enhance students’ knowledge
and passion of and for Astronomy. Students will become "backyard astronomers” by taking a hands-on approach to learning the art of stargazing. The Astronomy Club’s goal is to show students that God is the creator and sustainer of a dynamic, vast and amazing yet accessible
universe. Students will explore various topics such as deep sky objects (galaxies, star clusters and nebulas) and solar system objects (planets, moons, comets, etc.). They will also begin building astronomy skills including reading star charts and working with stargazing equipment.
Finally, students will have the monthly opportunity to stargaze using an 8' or 24' Dobsonian telescope. These monthly outings really put the stars in stellar perspective! Outings will be announced weather and moon allowing.
